Mother's Day

I truly had a wonderful weekend. On Friday night, we had dinner at the Willoughby's. On Saturday, I had to go into work for a minute but my boys went with me. Rob is getting accustomed to my office, so cute. He loves to 'make copies.' Luke and Rob then dropped me to go wedding dress shopping with Regan. Congratulations Aunt Rae! Saturday night we went to dinner at Primos, my favorite family friendly restaurant. Sunday was spent in Sallis with Nanna, the most selfless and supportive mother imaginable. This morning, Rob started singing! Row row row your boat, specifically, and it is precious. For all these things I am grateful.

Sentences, sort of

We are putting words together!
Bye Daddee! Said today while waving to Luke.
This is a ball. (dis es uh bawl) Said Sunday while playing in the backyard.

Another fun thing we have mastered is the word no. He has formed an opinion on what he should eat, wear, etc and usually my suggestions on these topics do not match with his. Do you want a banana? No. Let's get you dressed. No. All while shaking his head. If they do match, he doesn't answer with yes or head nod, he simply remains silent.

I am still loving this stage despite its challenges. A different facet of his personality emerges every day.

Spring 2012

Easter weekend started for us on Thursday afternoon. Rob had a party at school and I was in charge of cupcakes. It was his first class 'party' that I got to be involved in and I get a little over excited.

Luke and I were both off work on Friday and we spent some quality family time, beginning with breakfast. We are attempting to turn over a new leaf of cooking rather than surviving when it comes to food. Good Friday breakfast was a success if I say so myself.

That afternoon, Rob and I both visited Lauren for haircuts. Egg dying followed. Saturday morning was a trip to Sallis for the church Easter egg hunt and lunch.

Luke and I 'taught' Rob to hunt eggs the previous weekend by placing M&Ms in plastic eggs and scattering them in the front yard. motivation:)

Our 'practice' did not pay off on game day. He did get a prize for finding the least eggs though.
Bless him, just like his mama. I still cannot find Easter eggs to save my life. Saturday afternoon was Aunt Kay's Easter egg hunt, complete with prizes hidden in addition to the eggs. She goes all out for her nieces and nephews.

Our last family lunch was at her house and she had some baby chicks for Rob to see. Oh my. He did not understand the fragility of the chicks, especially at first. But then he did the most precious thing. He kept going up to them and pressing his cheek to them, giving them 'love.' Adorable boy.

I will leave you with some pictures of our recent favorite activities.

Playing the piano...he stops 'playing' long enough to turn the page in the hymnal, then 'plays' again. Climbs up there himself.

Bat and ball. He can say both and follows the process really well. I hope it is a sign that he will be athletic like his daddy.

Happy Spring, everyone!

Favorite Age

This is my favorite age of Rob so far. It is so much fun to watch him learn and respond! He has several new tricks and is literally getting bigger every day. His new favorite word is ball (bawll). He loves to pick flowers and eat McDonald's ice cream. He also loves to spend his time watching videos of himself at younger ages. Most hilarious and precious part is how he responds to what I say on the videos and how he imitates himself. This afternoon he picked an azalea bloom (my neighbors cringe at the sight of my splotchy azalea), said 'Mama, bawll,' then threw the flower. Melted my heart.

Atlanta and friends

Last weekend, our friends the Dinwiddies and the Herrings came for a visit. So fun and energizing to spend time with them. This past week, Luke and I took a trip to Atlanta for me to attend CE classes. We also took the opportunity to relax and spend some time together while Rob 'vacationed' at Nanna and Poppa's. We visited the World of Coca Cola, where we got to taste soft drinks from around the world. We ate very well, including lunch at the Varsity, and got to visit with the Herrings again. We also spent some time at the Georgia Aquarium where the camera was permanently strapped to Luke. It was a fun trip but we missed Rob terribly.

The polar bear's eyes could blink and he moved very smoothly, sort of scary like

So fun, had no idea what you were going to get, names unrecognizable

As you left, you got to grab a Coke off the conveyer of the drinks bottled at that location

Sea Dragon....sea horse's first cousin

Lion Fish

Impressive finale at the aquarium.

18 months

Our sweet man is no longer a baby but a little boy. He wears a size 18-24 month. (And why do they start making clothes in 6 month intervals instead of 3 at the 12 month level? It leaves us with clothes that are only just right for about a week.) Anyway, size 6 shoe, has had 6 haircuts, is still recovering from fever virus. His new words are bebe (baby), jew (shoe), go, and pulpul (apple). He loves books. He now locates objects you ask him to on the page. Like where is the ball? He points to it. Where is Mickey Mouse? He points to him, and all of them if there is more than one on the page. I am impressed with this. But I am his mama, of course I am. He loves to look at pictures around the house. He points to each person and calls them by name, referring to himself as bebe. He has not said his name yet. He also jabbers all the time, talking to himself in a language only he can understand. He has made several new friends at church. He is not afraid of bugs. He loves the vacuum cleaner. Outside remains his favorite place. McDonalds has been discovered, thanks to Nanna, and he has a happy meal weekly, including ice cream. He loves bubbles. He does not like to color or draw. He only likes TV show introductions, not interested when there is no music. Music is his hobby and he craves its presence constantly. I caught him in his room with his CD player on, volume all the way up, dancing frantically. Toddler jam session, adorable. We think he is the most handsome and precious boy that ever was and are so thankful for him.

Children's Museum Visit

Last month, we took Rob to the Mississippi Children's Museum. I am glad we took these photos on our visit because it never ceases to amaze me how fast he is growing. The jeans he is wearing in these pictures are already too short and have been replaced.

Love at first sight for this music lover.

And it plays Hot Dog! Time to warm up our 'dancing foot.'

He had such a wonderful time that I have taken him back since. On the second visit I did not have my camera but let's just say the music room has some stiff competition with the Altima turn on button.
